Why your TikTok slideshow isn't getting views

The four most common reasons slideshows flop — and the fix for each.

TikTok slideshows usually underperform for one of four reasons: a weak first slide that doesn't earn the swipe, no trending sound, too much text per slide, or posting inconsistently. Fixing the hook and adding a trending sound are the two changes that move the needle fastest.

01

Weak first slide

Slide one is your entire pitch. If it doesn't create curiosity or promise a payoff, viewers scroll past and the post never gets distribution. Rewrite the hook before anything else — see hook templates.

02

No trending sound

Silent or off-trend slideshows get less reach. Add a sound that's currently performing; it signals relevance to the algorithm and keeps viewers watching. See how to add music.

03

Too much text

One idea per slide. Paragraphs make viewers bounce; short, punchy captions are readable in the moment it takes to swipe. If a slide needs explaining, split it in two.

04

Inconsistent posting

One post rarely breaks out. Volume and consistency give the algorithm more chances and compound over time. Batch a week of slideshows and schedule them so cadence isn't dependent on motivation.
